The Bread Jumps into the Sea
A book created using collages of watercolor paintings overprinted with acetone.
It contains 7 chapters, each connected to a memory from my childhood: a recipe for buckwheat porridge, a film reconstruction, biting by a toothless mare, my brother’s joke about a seagull and bread, a trip to Kralický Sněžník, and Patrick Jane’s mental palace from the TV series The Mentalist.
Delicate records, important to me but otherwise somewhat insignificant moments of life, veiled by the acetone overprint in a light haze of remembrance.
The book remains unpublished so far, existing as a single copy. Created in January 2023, it was nominated in the author’s book category at Graphics of the Year 2023.
